Shamrock Marathon Hotels

The Shamrock Marathon is a series of world-class races with a hometown feel in Virginia Beach. Beginning March 18 2006 there will be 2 days of special events. The 26.2 mile Shamrock Marathon course is fast and festive. You'll pass through the modern resort area of Virginia Beach and continue to Fort Story and historic Cape Henry Lighthouse. Along the way will be music and support from water stop competitions. Runners and walkers will start together.

A Shamrock half marathon is new for 2006. It will start at the same time and location as the marathon and will be a flat loop course starting at the Cavalier Hotel on 42nd street and ending on the boardwalk at 31st Street.

The 8k course is out and back through the beautiful Virginia Beach oceanfront and along the paved boardwalk. Walk or run this race with over 4000 other competitors to finish in front of thousands of supportive fans.

Hotels for the Shamrock Marathon 2006

Shamrock Marathon 2006 hotels are on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. The area is a major beach resort, so there are plenty of good hotels.

The host hotel for the Shamrock Marathon 2006 is the oceanfront Hilton hotel. It is also at the finish line. 295 luxurious rooms and suites with walkout balconies. Surrounded by expansive lawns and gardens, and features an indoor and outdoor Olympic size pool, 4 tennis courts (hard and clay), 5 restaurants, 2 lounges, and croquet lawn. The Cavalier on the Hill is a historic landmark built in the 1920s (one block back from the beach). The Cavalier on the Ocean is a more contemporary addition positioned on the beach.

Choice Hotels International's Gold Award winning hotel. The well-trained staff really pays attention to details. Located one block from the beach and about 20 minutes from the Virginia Beach Amphitheater. Located on the prestigious North End.

Courtyard Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront South
The Courtyard Virginia Beach Oceanfront South is located in the center of the Virginia Beach resort area. All rooms are oceanfront with a private furnished balcony. Free high speed Internet access. Breakfast, lunch or dinner served in oceanfront restaurant and patio cafe. Heated indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room. 2501 Atlantic Avenue.

Econo Lodge on the Ocean
This relatively small oceanfront hotel is a real find. All rooms have oceanfront balconies or patios. It's not fancy or new, but it is clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. A real family atmosphere. Free continental breakfast. Free use of bicycles to ride on the boardwalk. Three-story walk up building with no elevators.

Fairfield Inn and Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront
12 blocks from the finish; 19th and Atlantic Avenue. 114 rooms including 24 suites, all with private oceanfront balconies. Holiday Inn Surfside

Howard Johnson Oceanfront Hotel
13 blocks from the finish of the Shamrock Marathon. A Gold Image Award and AAA 2 diamond hotel with 107 oceanfront rooms with private balconies.
