Jamestown 2007 is a celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of America's first permanent English settlement. Beginning in May of 2006 there will be 18 months of special events. The Jamestown Settlement is a museum of 17th-century Virginia life. It tells the story of America's first permanent English colony. The living history area includes a Powhatan Indian village, the three ships that brought colonists from England to Jamestown (Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery) and a palisaded colonial fort. Jamestown 2007 hotels are in the surrounding cities of Williamsburg and Newport News. The area includes other tourist attractions such as Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, so there are plenty of good hotels.

Colonial Williamsburg Inn
This is the finest and most expensive of the four hotels operated by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Several Presidents have stayed here as well as the heads of state of many other nations. The Regency dining room (classic American cuisine) overlooks the famous Golden Horseshoe golf course. Amenities include a spring-fed pool, clay tennis courts, lawn bowling, croquet, fitness club and spa. 62 rooms and suites in the main building. The "Providence Hall Wings" are buildings located a short distance from the main building.

Kingsmill Resort
Kingsmill is a golf resort in a beautiful setting on the James River. Three golf courses, a sports complex and a full-service spa are among the attractions. Professional golf tournaments are held annually on the River Course. Kingsmill offers 400 villa-style accommodations including 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom suites as well as the standard hotel guest room. Fine cuisine in the dining room or eat at the steakhouse. Free shuttle to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.

Woodlands Hotel & Suites
Like the Colonial Williamsburg Inn, the Woodlands is a Colonial Williamsburg Foundation hotel ... only less expensive. It is located next to the visitor center and on the edge of a 40 acre pine forest. You can walk a Nature Trail to Colonial Williamsburg.

Great Wolf Lodge
An indoor water park (always 84 degrees inside), huge arcade, and spa make the Great Wolf Lodge a lot more than a hotel. This is where your kids will want to stay when visiting Jamestown 2007. All the rooms are suites, which works well for families too (301 suites with 10 different room configurations). Dining options include a food court, bar & grill, Pizza Hut Express, cafe, and snack shop.

The Point Plaza Suites and Conference Hotel in Newport News has reasonable rates and gets great reviews for style, cleanliness and friendly staff. Fitness center, indoor heated pool, and free parking. On-site restaurant.

Comfort Inn Newport News is the typical modern chain hotel near the Interstate highway. An affordable choice for families. Free continental breakfast. Outdoor pool.

The Hampton Inn Newport News is another modern chain hotel with a convenient location near a major highway. Hampton Inns are known for reasonable rates and free breakfast.
